FPR DRIVERS PROGRESS THROUGH THE FIELD IN FIRST GRAND PRIX V8 SUPERCAR RACE

Ford Performance Racing (FPR) drivers Craig Lowndes and Glenn
Seton raced into the V8 Supercar midfield from rear of the grid starts in
today's opening ten lap race at the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit.
In what turned out to be a fairly dramatic race at the front of the field,
today's short race was relatively uneventful for the two FPR drivers who shared
the common goal of making up as many positions as possible to gain more
competitive starting places for tomorrow's 19 lap / 100 kilometre main V8
Supercar race.
Ford Credit FPV Falcon driver Seton made up ten positions to finish 18th, just
ahead of Lowndes' CAT FPR Falcon, the 29 year old driver making up eleven
positions during this first of three Grand Prix V8 Supercar showcase races.
#6 Craig Lowndes - "The crew solved yesterday's problems overnight and the car
was very good, particularly considering our lack of laps here. Our problem area
is with the car's rear traction - I had some some major oversteer throughout
the race."
#5 Glenn Seton - "We picked up a few places during the race and learned a lot
about the car, so I am looking forward to racing over 19 laps tomorrow. The car
was consistent on tyres throughout the race and it was a matter of getting the
head down and driving some fast laps while avoiding some of the carnage that
was going on around the track."
FPR Chief Engineer, John Russell - "Certainly a better day today than
yesterday, a solid performance by both of our drivers which allowed us to
complete what was essentially a test for us during this opening race, providing
the right conclusions."
The event was a Holden trifecta with Greg Murphy taking the win from Jason
Bright and Garth Tander. Saturday's 100 kilometre V8 Supercar race takes place
at 4:00pm.
