7/3/2004 14:29 (Press Release) -
Castrol Racing Teams Steven Richards has taken out second position in the final race of the Netspace V8 Supercar Challenge at Albert Park.
After getting a good start Steven was passed by GRM’s Garth Tander coming into turn one, only to take back his position at turn six with a fantastic pass on Garth.
Steven settled into second position behind PWR’s Jason Bright swapping fastest times throughout the race.
“We made some changes overnight to the car but unfortunately it started to understeer a bit, but the car feels very strong and the team did a fantastic job this weekend having the car as quick as it was. Bring on Adelaide” Steven said
Paul Dumbrell was second of the Castrol Racing Teams drivers with a strong and impressive drive. Paul finished in 15th position after narrowly missing the accident between Mark Skaife and Simon Wills at turn one of the first lap.
“The car is great, it’s the best the VX has ever been since I have driven it that’s for sure, So I am looking forward to Adelaide now and getting my new car soon," he said.
Castrol Racings Tony Longhurst suffered electrical problems in the number 7 VY Commodore ending his race coming on the straight at the end of lap one.
“I m not sure what happened to the car to be honest it started to misfire around the back of the track and it just lost power coming on to the main straight, apart from that I have been very impressed with the car and team and looking forward to Adelaide," he said.
With a strong performance from the Castrol Racing Team at Albert Park, every one now has their sights set on Adelaide and the start of the V8 Supercar Championship in under two weeks time.
