Glenn Seton to leave FPR at end of 2004 season
5/9/2004 23:16 (Press Release) -
Ford Performance Racing (FPR) driver Glenn Seton will depart FPR at the conclusion of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship Series to take on a new Ford driving venture.
The 39 year old double V8 Supercar Champion has been pivotal in the establishment of FPR, the team created following the purchase of Seton's V8 Supercar franchise and team assets in December 2002 by world leading motor racing and automotive engineering company, Prodrive.
Seton swapped his team owner role for that of team driver for the first time in 14 years in 2003 and continued to perform strongly during FPR's challenging first two seasons.
While disappointed to be saying farewell to the team's second foundation driver, all at FPR are pleased that Seton will be continuing his V8 Supercar career with the Ford team of Dick Johnson Racing in 2005.
"We thank Glenn for his valuable contribution to our team and wish him success in the future," said FPR Managing Director David Flint.
"I have had a long association with Glenn that extends to the Ford Tickford Racing days and it has been great to be associated with him both as a team owner and more recently as one of FPR's lead drivers. We gave him his first podium visit at Bathurst last year and we will be doing all we can to take him and Craig one step further this year," he added.
According to Seton, "I have enjoyed being involved with FPR since the team's inception and watching it grow from my old team to the operation that it is today. I have been offered an exciting opportunity with Dick Johnson Racing and look forward to the future ahead. I wish all the team at FPR well for the future."
The forthcoming Sandown and Bathurst endurance races will see Seton join Lowndes once again in one of the V8 Supercar Series' most formidable enduro driver combinations.
FPR will release information relating to the team's 2005 driver line up in due course.
