High Note to End the Season

Team Betta Electrical rounded out the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship series with strong performances from both Paul Radisich and Max Wilson in the Grand Finale at Eastern Creek resulting in the Team’s first ever podium finish. Radisich in the #88 car scored an excellent and well deserved second place overall for the weekend to give the Triple Eight run squad a massive boost for the approaching holiday season.
“Today was an awesome way to finish off the year and my time with Triple Eight. The Falcon was working really well and the team have done an excellent job all year – and that just culminated in today’s performance,” said Radisich on Sunday.
Sunday’s pit stops were some of the best of the series, with the team clocking times in the low six seconds for both Radisich and Wilson.
“The team’s pit stops today were awesome, enabling us to jump ahead of Craig Lowndes in the Number Six car during race two, setting us up perfectly in second place,” commented Triple Eight Race Engineering Managing Director Roland Dane.
With Radisich starting Race Three from the front row, and Wilson on row four, Team Betta Electrical was well positioned for the finale. Wet weather loomed going in to the race and the Team was on alert for tyre changes.
Throughout the first half of Race Three less than half a second separated the pack most of the time. Radisich maintained either first or second position through to his pit stop on lap 26, finally adopting a conservative approach for the final ten laps finishing fourth for the race and second for the weekend.
Wilson drove consistently strong races after the set back of a pit lane drive through penalty in Race One as a result of a jumped start, and finished the weekend in eleventh overall in his final appearance in the Betta Electrical Falcon.
Radisich’s podium position for the Big Pond Finale was a huge kudos for Team Betta Electrical and Triple Eight Race Engineering. Coupled with Marcos Ambrose’s first placing and Ingall’s third, Ford Falcon’s took a clean sweep for the Eastern Creek race.
