Team BOC Race 2 Report

19/4/2005 14:23 (Press Release) - Session Report
New Zealand International
Pukekohe Raceway
Round 2 V8 Supercars Championship
Race 2- Sunday, 17 April 2005

Race two was marred by a major accident involving Brad Jones’ Team BOC Falcon. After a an innocent altercation with nephew Andrew Jones, his car hit tyre barriers at high speed causing it to become airbourne after the impact and landing on its side. Jones was uninjured and there is now a frantic effort inside the pit garage to get the car ready for race three. The #21 Team BOC Ford has sustained some structural damage as well as severe cosmetic destruction.

On the flip side, John Bowe continued his move up the field. After barraging his way from 18th to 12th in yesterday’s opening encounter, Bowe climbed two more spots to 10th in race two. His results are a credit to the former champion considering his hindered preparation over the past few days.

Race 3:

Quotes: John Bowe
“Basically the car has been getting better and better. Yesterday was a tough old slog but I was really happy with that race [two]. If we can keep the momentum going, we could end up with a respectable result this weekend, which is a far cry from where I thought we were going to be on Thursday.”

Qualified: 22nd
Race 1: 22nd
Race 2: DNF
Race 3: N/A

Quotes: Brad Jones
“Wow, that was quite a ride. I knew it was going to be a big hit as soon as I got onto the grass going backwards. The impact has cracked the seat and bent the seat brackets. Apparently the telemetry shows that it was a 4g hit! We’re still not sure if we can get the car back for the final race, the guys are working their backsides off at the moment. I think it will be touch and go but I’d really like to get back out there and get as many [championship] points as possible.”
