Ingall not off the hook, adjourned until Wednesday
8/12/2000 13:59 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Russell Ingall will have to wait until next week to know his fate at the CAMS Disciplinary Tribunal, after Wednesday night’s hearing was adjourned.
The Tribunal – established especially to hear allegations that Ingall’s remarks during a Bathurst press conference were, “prejudicial to the interests of the Bathurst event and to the interests of Motorsport in general” – was asked for an adjournment in order for Ingall to seek legal counsel.
That application was successful, and the hearing will now be held next Wednesday evening at CAMS’ Melbourne headquarters.
Ingall was fined $10,000 after an initial hearing found him guilty of bringing the sport into disrepute with his scathing comments on Bathurst’s slower cars and the CAMS licensing system during Friday’s press conference.
Larry Perkins later appealed the decision on Ingall’s behalf, and had it overturned.
CAMS is continuing its policy of not commenting on the matter.
